Nolan Albrecht | Assistant Coach
Nolan Albrecht enters into his position of Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach with the knowledge of what it takes to be a successful all-around student athlete at Belmont Abbey College.
A former standout for the men's program, Albrecht was a four-year captain (2012-16) and led the nation in kills (523), kills per set (5.03) and points per set (5.56) as a senior. He was one of two players in the 2016 season to have more than 1,000 hitting attempts and have a hitting percentage over .300 (.350). Albrecht was named the AVCA National Player of the Week in February, 2016 and finished second in voting for the "2016 Karch Kiraly Award" for the nation's best Outside Hitter.
During his three seasons of active play at BAC, Nolan amassed two first-team All-Conference Carolinas selections and multiple Conference Player of the Week awards. His career statistics include 1,157 kills, 594 digs, 142 total blocks, and 70 aces. After sitting out for the entirety of the 2014 season due to back surgery, he received Conference Carolinas' Comeback Player Of the Year award in 2015 after returning to the top 10 in several statistical categories.
Albrecht graduated with honors from Belmont Abbey College in 2016 with two degrees: Sports Management and Theology. During his time at the Abbey, he performed in 3 musical productions with the Abbey Players including a lead role as John the Baptist/Judas in Godspell and a supporting role as Reuben in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. An active participant with the Abbey Volunteers and F.O.C.U.S. at the Abbey, Nolan was the two-time recipient (2015 and 2016) of the Father "Pop" Martin Award, which is presented to the overall student-athlete that demonstrates the true spirit and heart of Belmont Abbey College.
Before the Abbey, Nolan played basketball at Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio for one season under coach John Lamanna. The forward averaged 15.8 points per game, 7.2 rebounds, and was named the Allegheny Mountain Conference's Newcomer of the Year after his freshman season.
Originally from Naperville, Illinois, Nolan played club and coached for Sports Performance Volleyball where he was named a USA Volleyball All-American in 2011. He currently serves as the Assistant Director of Player Development at Carolina Union Volleyball Club in Charlotte.
Nolan has six siblings and his "littlest" sister Annika won an NCAA Championship in 2015 and currently plays Outside Hitter for Nebraska.
